Singing for Syrians
New Year's Resolution: take action to help the Syrian refugees? Here's how to get involved locally and make a difference this winter.
Babel Babies is very proud to be sponsoring a fantastic fundraising event for Syrian refugees: Songs and Stories for Syrians. Together with Syrian children’s book author and illustrator -Nadine Kaadan- we're hosting an afternoon of storytelling, singing and crafts at the Suffolk Anthology bookshop in Cheltenham on Saturday 4th February 2017. This is an event in Arabic, French and English for the Syrian children who have come to live in Gloucestershire and tickets will be available for six of our Babel Babies regulars. It will be a great chance to practise your Arabic nursery rhymes and hear some beautiful Arabic picture books being read by the author herself! This event is being held in conjunction with Gloucestershire’s refugee support charities GARAS and Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees, and we will release the tickets in the next couple of weeks.

Singing for Syrians
It's also the culmination of a two-month fundraising campaign for the Hands Up Foundation, a UK registered charity which provides direct humanitarian assistance to refugees, including helping displaced Syrians survive the harsh winter and ongoing projects such as a prosthetic limb clinic for Syrian victims of war. Babel Babies have offered copies of our CDs as a reward for generous pledges to our online appeal, and there are also rewards donated by Penguin, Lantana Publishing and Saqi Books. You can pledge a donation herewhich would be taken from your account when the appeal ends on 17th February. We would be so grateful if you would also forward the details on to friends and help us spread the word about the campaign (in whichever languages take your fancy!).

We have an initial target of £2000 but perhaps together we can raise much more to help Syrian refugees rebuild their broken lives.

Thank you! Shukran! شكرا
